Harriet’s Borneo Blog

Date and Time stamp from camera in UK time (should be 07:21 in Malaysia).
Hello Everyone!
My name is Harriet and I’m an undergraduate student at Cardiff University studying BSc Biological Science (Zoology), and I’m currently in my 3rd year / Professional Training Year (PTY). I am lucky enough to be undertaking my year abroad in Malaysian Borneo, doing scientific research at the Danau Girang Field Centre, which is located on the Lower Kinabatangan River, Sabah. Throughout these 12 months I will spend approximately 50% of my time carrying out my own research, in line with current projects going on, which will be written up for a final grade, contributing to 10% of my degree! The other half of the time I will be assisting in field work related to PhD and Post Doc projects and will be involved with the general day to day activities, such as hosting visitors and field courses.
I’m not sure yet how often I will post to this blog as there are always things to do here, and anytime we have off is often spend napping to recover from the heat, so stay tuned!
Xx
